as a vegan for 17 years
I have learned to curb the
contribution to violence
not adding to the should-be-
criminal behavior
the look in the sentient [sic]
eyes
and disappointment
in the community
being taken
limb from limb
I don't inseminate
the child
I don't refer to them as
“old enough”
I don't wonder if I've
had enough as
I snag the last piece
when will it be the last piece
when will it be peace at last
but I do not always know
that of the sentience [sic]
where is the line
